PureStream

PureStream (hereinafter referred to as “the Service” or “the App”) is a local music server application for Mac and Windows. We adhere to local-first and data-minimization principles: your music files, library metadata, and playback history remain on your computer. When you use device pairing, remote access, or subscription features, our control plane processes only the limited data necessary to establish connections and verify entitlements. This policy describes how data is handled and your choices.

1. Overview

Local-first architecture: PureStream operates locally on your computer with no account registration required; we do not ask you for your name, phone number, or email address, and we do not collect precise geographic location.
Data processing boundaries: The App does not scan unrelated system directories or upload your audio files. It communicates with our control plane only for pairing, remote credential negotiation, and subscription verification.
No tracking or advertising: We do not integrate third-party advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking analytics, or data brokers; we do not create advertising profiles or sell user data.

2. Data We Process

Control plane interactions: When device pairing or remote access is enabled, our control plane service (pstream.efficient-lab.com) processes technical parameters necessary to facilitate communication.
Device and instance identifiers: To coordinate devices, we process randomly generated device identifiers, device names and types, operating system platform (macOS or Windows), service instance IDs, and family group IDs.
Operational and security events: During communication with the control plane, our systems log request timestamps, IP addresses, request IDs, and status error codes for network connectivity, troubleshooting, and security auditing.

3. Music and Library Data

Audio files stay local: Your music tracks, audio tags, cover art, lyric files, library indexes, and listening history are stored solely on your host machine and are never uploaded to our servers.
On-device scanning and transcoding: Library scanning, metadata extraction, and real-time audio transcoding run entirely on your local machine; transcode caches remain on disk and audio content is not transmitted to the cloud.
Local network communication: When streaming across your local network, playback traffic travels directly between client and server devices without routing through the external internet or our servers.

4. Remote Access and Network Transmission

WireGuard encrypted tunnels: Remote access (Pure Tunnel) establishes end-to-end encrypted tunnels using the WireGuard protocol without requiring custom domain names, public IP addresses, or router port forwarding.
Direct point-to-point traffic: In direct P2P connections, media streams flow directly between your client and server devices, bypassing our servers entirely.
Encrypted relays and local networks: If a direct connection cannot be established and traffic traverses an encrypted relay node, the relay only forwards encrypted ciphertext and transport metadata without decrypting your audio; local network streaming uses local HTTP and does not claim end-to-end encryption.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

App store billing: PureStream subscriptions and premium features are billed through the Mac App Store or Microsoft Store, governed by the respective store terms and privacy policies.
No financial data collected: Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Microsoft; we never collect, receive, or store your credit card numbers, bank details, or billing addresses.
Entitlement verification: Our control plane only receives and verifies cryptographically signed receipts containing product IDs, subscription status, transaction and renewal IDs, and environment flags (production or sandbox).

6. Logs, Security, and Retention

Minimal log retention: Control plane operational logs and audit events are retained only for the shortest duration necessary for reliability, network defense, and applicable legal obligations, after which they are deleted or rotated.
Strictly limited purposes: Operational logs are used exclusively for diagnosing faults, preventing abuse, and maintaining availability, and are never used for commercial advertising or tied to real-world identities.
Data security measures: We utilize industry-standard encrypted protocols to protect information in transit; while no internet transmission can be guaranteed completely risk-free, we apply reasonable and necessary safeguards.

7. Your Choices and Data Deletion

Unpairing and local removal: You can unpair devices at any time in settings. Unpairing revokes the sessions, caches, and connection credentials stored on this machine. If you uninstall the app and want to remove its local data completely, also delete the app’s data directory.
Control plane record deletion: To request the removal of control plane records such as device identifiers and family group associations, you may contact our support email, and we will purge the corresponding records after verification.
Legal and accounting retention: Certain transaction validation records may be retained for statutory periods if required by applicable laws, financial regulations, or app store reconciliation requirements.

8. Children's Privacy

Not directed to children: PureStream is a general-purpose audio server utility and is not directed to or intended for children under 13 (or the relevant age threshold under local law).
No minor data collection: The application contains no features targeted at minors and does not knowingly or intentionally collect personal information from children.
Parental removal requests: If a parent or guardian discovers that a child has transmitted information to our control plane or contacted us without consent, please contact us for prompt deletion.

9. Policy Updates and Contact Information

Policy modifications: We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect product updates, technical changes, or legal requirements; any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
Reviewing updates: When this policy changes, we recommend reviewing the updated version before continuing to use PureStream; the effective date on this page will be updated.
